So, I finally made it to one of the community sparring events Kru Ramuel holds at 10th Planet Etobicoke Martial Arts during long weekends, coincidentally, always when I can’t find a sitter. This time I did, and it was a fantastic session!
I truly felt the community vibe, as all the gentlemen I sparred with held perfectly still for me to execute my combos. Thank you! The ladies from Triumph Martial Arts, however… ate me for breakfast, with three eggs added on top! I’m licking my wounds and rethinking my upcoming fight at CMTO. Kru Ruben stretched for the entire 20 rounds without limits, so maybe next time we all bring our yoga mats.
This sparring session bettered me in more than just Muay Thai. Up until now, I thought that when someone was introduced as an OG, it meant they were an OBGYN and “OG” was just the discreet version! When Kru Ramuel called Kru Ruben an OG, I finally looked it up, since I know Kru Ruben is a graphic designer and not an OBGYN. Thank God for that!
Thank you, Kru Ramuel and Etobicoke Martial Arts, for your support of the community.
A few notes on the community:
Max Koroviakovskyi from Kalari Kickboxing won his fight against Omar Karaki at FTC with a severe back injury, which prevented him from doing his usual 360 kicks. Max caught my attention because he noted that he won the fight entirely on character. I don’t know why the coaches at Kingdom are making such a big fuss about my upcoming fight. I have excellent character!
Dannielle Levasseur and Euraysia Duhaime are having a rematch at Naka Fight Night in two weeks. Dannielle and Euraysia went at it with open arms during the MTO Provincial Championships (read previous blog). I hear they really miss each other and need to go at it again.
A very noteworthy mention: AJ White (IG: @awhiteacct) ran the 10k Sporting Life Marathon carrying a canoe over his head to raise money for kids’ summer camp. Well, he definitely won by getting a lot of attention. As for the marathon, I hear he’s still in it.
Thank you, Diana for organizing the all female sparring session at Guelph MMA. I'm looking forward to sparring with all the amazing ladies from the surrounding cities at the next event.
Next session of SHEspars is happing on May 25th. Ladies gear up!
See you all next week at Canadian Fight League 8.
