Reflecting on 2024

2024 was a great year at Kingdom. A lot went on. The fancy mats, which were ordered from overseas, finally showed up. All 250 pieces of them. We have some extras that we might be willing to exchange for a good collapsible ring.

 We participated in several challenges: We finished the 15 km Tough Mudder 2024. We had a blue shorts test, which I swear I passed, although I was never given the blue shorts. We also had an arm-wrestling challenge, which Coach Hamed won after taking his little blue pill. I asked Coach Hamed what the blue pill does for him, and he said, “Think Smurfs.” Shannon Flynn won the Kingdom Certificate of Excellence for her selfless contributions and for fighting for the Kingdom on the sidelines. Hamed and Nima were awarded Best Students of the Year. Hamed and Nima also received their PC Kru status and Shannon and I started our Yoga Teacher's Training.

We also somehow managed to irritate Legacy MT into asking for a rematch of a Class C amateur fight (I’m rolling my eyes). I think Kru Art at Legacy MT was behind that idea!

 On December 30th, we had our last training session of 2024, with Kru Yai Ironman Harold Mah running the session. Kru Ironman also gifted us with the Kingdom Knight! The Kingdom Knight, so tall and so strong, made me forget all about Behrouz. Kru Ironman also made me cry that day by calling my push kick insulting, because it was too straightforward?

 We’re stepping into 2025 with new coaches joining the Kingdom, launching new programs, and a new schedule at a brand new gym. At the center of the Kingdom floor, we’re reminded by Kru Harold Mah (KHM) that “training camp is every day.”

 In 2024, PC Kru Vince (he asked me not to call him coach) wasn’t successful at finding a new girlfriend/potential wife. Ladies, if you’re looking, PC Kru Vince is 5’ 10” tall, a great French teacher, an amazing father, has abs that just returned from a Thailand training camp, and speaks with a killer French accent. Let’s make 2025 a success for PC Kru Vince, shall we?

Today was the Capricorn Kru’s birthday. Since he already has the love and support of the Kingdom family, let’s all wish him more stamina in 2025! Lastly, since this is not a gossip column, I won’t speculate on why Kru Dylan refuses to share his 2025 New Year’s resolution.
